We are conducting interviews with ~3 dozen MER Team members who are on the MER PORTAL team. We will synthesize information from these interviews into our Data Analysis User Guides, which should be available in 2025. In the meantime, please check out our Guides to the MER Vehicle and Instruments!

Ultimately, we hope to produce multiple versions of these user guides, aimed at different audiences (professional planetary scientists, undergraduates, school teachers and the interested public).

We are also developing a MER Image Interpretation Guidebook, which will introduce novice MER researchers, students, and the general public to Gusev (Spirit) and Meridiani (Opportunity) field geology. This handbook is designed to teach undergraduates with limited geologic knowledge to identify geologic, atmospheric, and rover-related objects and phenomena in MER images.
